What to expect when you sign up

  • Registration Process

    It’s easy — just click on the Get Started link above or below. A Traveling Music Lessons (TML) representative will be in touch within 1-2 business days to pair you with the right teacher in your area based on your instrument, age and skill level.

  • During your lesson

    We will schedule an initial single lesson to ensure it is a great fit with your teacher. For the first lesson, have a notebook, a pencil and your instrument readily available. Lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes, based on age and skill level.

  • Continuous Weekly Lessons

    After your first lesson, TML will follow up with you to ensure that the lesson went great and you’d like to continue with your teacher. From there lessons will be weekly on the same day and time. You can also work towards one of our bi-annual recitals!

Our teachers are local, professional musicians looking forward to getting you started on your musical goals in the comfort of your home. all teachers have a music degree or equivalent experience and have passed a national background check.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I Need My Own Instrument?

    Yes. Part of what we love about the in-home music lesson model is that students are able to practice on the same instrument they use during lessons. Your instructor will assign exercises and pieces to learn throughout the week. You’ll need an instrument in your home to practice assignments necessary to improve.

  • How Soon Can I Get Started?

    As soon as you’re ready! Once you have registered for lessons online we will get started finding the right teacher for you. Lessons will start within a week or two depending on student and teacher availability.

  • Can I Change from In-Person to Virtual Lessons?

    Yes! Our instructors are able to adapt to whichever type of lesson you prefer.

  • What Happens if I Have to Cancel or Reschedule an Appointment?

    Please let us know about any need to reschedule or cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy in order to protect our teachers from last-minute cancellations. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be eligible for a refund.

  • What is the Cost of Music Lessons?
